I was in the exact same boat as you. I used Photoshop in school, then graduated and could not afford to purchase CS5 so I started using Gimp and it'as actually really nice.

It's kind of funny how the value has gone down, but the total number of games has gone up :S

Typically I play F2P for about a month or two to familiarize myself with the game and make sure that I'm not wasting money on something I'll likely quit.
