Nintendo was never in the console wars to begin with. They could have easily done so by actually coming out with a console able to compete against the two giants. Though, they decided to stay in their lane and satisfy their own audience.

Never really saw the point of buying a HD DVD drive or a blu ray one for that matter. I still rock my regular dvd player that I bought back in 2009. It was no secret that blu ray was going to win as it just made more sense. Microsoft was just fighting a useless battle.
