Lord of the Rings Online

Am I the only one here that plays Lord of the Rings Online? It is basically a free version of World of Warcraft but it is way more fun in my opinion. The only downside of the game is the fact that there are only 4 races. Human, Elf, Dwarf, and hobbit. I wish they would add an Orc side but I guess that would be copying World of Warcraft with the Horde. There are a lot of classes though so the game is still fun. Unlike World of Warcraft, in LOTRO you have to create multiple characters in order to fully enjoy the experience. As a free player you get Turbine Points which you need to unlock new quests and abilities that paid players would have. It's hard to get a lot of TP on just one character so you need to create multiple.

So that is just a quick summary of LOTRO and if you haven't tried it I really suggest that you. If you already do let us know your main character name and server you play on. I can't remember my server at the moment but I will edit this post once I find out!

I can understand why they don't add an orc side though. At least in WoW the horde and alliance are both kind of dicks and neither side is unambiguously evil, which isn't really the case with LotR orcs as far as I know. They kinda just go around killing things.

Anyways, I never tried LotRO personally, but my room mate played it for a bit and liked it, but said it felt a bit slow and clunky.

I guess you are right that the Orcs are just evil but it would add a lot more to the game if there was an evil side. You can be an Orc
if you play the PvP mode I think but that is it. It is also a matter of what else to put besides Orcs. I guess there could be goblins but that's basically it. You should really try LOTRO, it is really fun and I don't think it is clunky at all.

could never get into WoW. Not my type of game. I like Open ended games, but not that open ended. Never felt like I knew what I was doing when I tried the trial a couple years ago. I'm sure there are guides or walk-troughs I could read up on, but There shouldn't need to be any for newbies. Some kind of linear, offline campaign that teaches you the basics or something would be helpful.

LOTR was one of the MMOs I never got the chance to play and wished I had..anyone think it's still worth trying?
