Yep it will be releasing in the US on August 19, 2014. So a little less than 2 weeks from today.

From a quick search there is no release date. Just simply that it plans to come out this year. So I would think maybe sometime in November is my best guess.

Right now you have to sorta pay to access the close beta access, but it's just for some stuff ingame and some of their game currency for a ingame store. (No it isn't P2W from what I seen) So if you rather not pay you would have to wait till release to play it for free.

Well H1Z1 has more potential since it's being made by a big company like Sony. Than a small band of developers working on DayZ, but thats just what I think. :P

I really do enjoy exploration games myself as well more than straight forward ones, but I don't mind a straight forward game like BF and CoD once in a while. But it is just amazing how much more often they are being made. Considering the amount of time it must take to develop them.
