Does anybody here still code? I stopped a while back but I am thinking about getting back into it.

Never been a coder myself, when I've had the time to learn I don't have the willpower. When I have the will, I don't have the time.

What do you like coding?

Pretty much all my C++ and C# knowledge has ran away as i haven't put it to much use for like a year now. So no.

I code a bit in my free time, but primarily it is for my college courses. Recently I have been working on a few HTML and Java projects. I used to code way more often but have since taken a break. I plan to get back into it at some point. It's challenging and rewarding.

Yes, I still code :)

I only know advanced HTML and PHP.

I started teaching myself Java but had to give it up due to no time. I wanna pick it back up and learn it, hopefully in the near future.

For those that want to learn coding, use the power of Google. There are many quality guides written by coders or if you prefer find YouTube guides. Always start with the easiest languages though.

I'm currently going into my finals at university and I've been learning HTML/CSS, bits of JS and PHP and a lot of C# and C++. I really enjoy coding and building websites and most of my knowledge is from home as I do it in my spare time. I'd like to know a lot more about other web languages etc.

I'm still currently in a programming-focused diploma program in which I am learning various languages in the back-end database management (T-SQL, Python, Oracle, etc.)

You know quite a few languages then. How long did it take you to learn C++??

Atropia, very impressive. How hard are you finding Python? I've once discussed it with a coder friend of mine and he said Python is really different compared to languages like C++ and Java because it's more of a scripting type.

Not at all confident with the language, can only build certain simple programs as I'm still learning, I've been learning for around 3 years now but I find it so difficult for some reason.

I do still code with Python and C#. Though not much active with it. Considering there are no active projects. But I'd surely use the C# with the Unity. And that way I can make some 2D games. That's something is in pipeline for me. I have not much worked on any other skills as of yet like graphics and audio. So coding at intermediate level is what I have.

Low key C++ is probably easiest language to learn, because somehow I managed to do it for Minecraft at age 10 lol.

But in all seriousness I forgot how to do C++ since then, but I picked up JavaScript a good 4 years ago and have continuously used it for fun. Nothing to "complicated". If you want someone who specializes in coding as a job and is pursuing a masters right now talk to at @Womack

I've used way to many different languages to even count how many I 'know', but I would say I'm fluent in all languages based off of BCPL(which we joking refer to as 'Before C Programming Language'). C was created to replace BCPL because BCPL didn't have some of the byte-sized memory functionality that was needed for more modern Operating Systems, and also C introduced structs which IMO stream lined the use of object oriented programming most people use today. I also have used the languages based off of Algol-W, but they aren't as common as the language that branched off of BCPL(which is C, C++, C#, Java, and a dozen others).
The point of this paragraph is you shouldn't be 'learning a language'. Just understand the concepts and tools a language offers(like dynamic memory management using pointers in C++), and then use the API to branch out to other languages. If you know java, you inherently know C#. If you know C, you inherently know C++.

Anyone who is getting into Python and C++ can find the Panda 3D engine worth using. I have used the engine for some of the 3D demos. It has some good shading engine and effects are lot easier. Though it is meant for the python, you can use C++ with it as well. I have found most of the engines out there are either Javascript, C++ and Python. Only the Unity seems to be C#. So learning these languages for some future experiments with games.

My son is a coder for a living. He actually taught himself how to do it, and now he has a really good job as a coder. I am really impressed. I don't think I would have the patience to learn it, or would get easily frustrated. I say kudos to my son! I don't think he has tried to do any coding within a game though.

As for coding games, not yet. But I have been practicing a lot of my coding skills lately, I've been coding in Java and doing some HTML5 and CSS3 along the way. I'm also planning to learn Php scripting soon as I want to make dynamic websites instead of the static ones I can create with simple HTML5. In the near future, I'm hoping to develop android apps and games to further expand my knowledge and portfolio.
