Lately, I've been in a bit of a gaming funk. I can't remember the last time that I truly enjoyed a video game. Nothing seems to hold my attention. I'm finding more pleasure in playing small-biz video games, such as "Emily is Away, too." This is a weird experience for me because I generally love to play video games and I get fairly glued to the screen.

Is anyone else going through a weird funk in the video game world? Have you found anything interesting lately?

I can't say that I have same problems as you. I always manage to find really good games that capture my attention. Have you perhaps tried more multiplayer based games? Maybe they would help you with staying interested since there's more constant competition... for example; staying on the ranked ladder and so on.

If you tell me what genre you like, I can also refer you to some of the good games that I've played recently from it :)

Also, you could just be going through a weird phase. I think that's normal from time to time.

No, I don't think I've ever experienced something similar. Burnt-out from long gaming sessions, yes, but I've lost interest in gaming in general. As suggested, it may be that you haven't found a truly engaging game in a while, and unfortunately some recent AAA titles do lack the passion that makes videogames interesting in the first place.
I know it sounds weird, but perhaps playing some indie games could help. Facing the fruit of a developer's pure inspiration and ideas is refreshing, it gives them a soul. I've found The Binding of Isaac to be especially eye-opening after watching an interview to the creator, for instance. Give it a shot.

If you are a football fan, try checking out Top Eleven football manager. It's a game you will never get tired of playing as long as you are taken by football and all that is related to it.

It's a managerial game that gives you so much responsibility for your team. Day to day running of the team is in your hands, buying of new players, training them, offering new contracts and termination of some, selling of your underperforming players, taking up building of infrastructure for your team development, etc.

There are three major competition in the game; League, Champions League and Cup tournament. If you get knocked out champions league spot, you drop to super league. It's an interesting game and am sure you will love it because it's very addictive.

I never had such a problem, to lose my interest in playing online games. In the worse case when I get bored by a certain game I just play another game. If is needed I buy a new game that will gain my interest in no time.
For me, there is always a game that worth playing it!

I've experienced this since I've started working. I lost a lot of free time resulting to a drastic decrease in my allotted hours of playing video games. When this happened, I found myself being less and less interested in story driven games like RPGs and action adventure games.

I found that little by little, I was starting to enjoy simple games, mostly the free games found on Android, iOS, and PC like Hill Climb Racing, Papers Please, Zuma, and Diner Dash. Games that could be enjoyed in short bursts became my favorites.

Now, I seem to have completely lost interest in story driven games. I'm now starting to get into online multiplayer games. I still play games, but not not as extensive as before.

It depends on the weather for me. When the weather is hot, it is impossible to play online or video games while perspiring. So it puts off my mood. Lately, the weather had turned cold, it is raining now. So, I am having the mood of taking out the old video games to play and kill the time. I prefer shooting arcade games.

In fact I do have some games that I appreciate and play from time to time. When it comes to gaming I never gets bored. I always try to look for games online or I borrow some games from my friends.

In fact, I have just been like that. Now I found a cool game that hooked me back into gaming but for the past 6 months, I was like that. I believe that it was due to several factors, some of them were due to my life as a whole and my lack of money and the others were due to the condition of the gaming market. It seems that quality games have been less abundant around and Indie producers are taking over big companies when it comes to making a decent game.

I think that maybe all gamers go through stages like this? There are times in my life when I would game nonstop, and then, for whatever reason, wake up one day and just not feel like it for months. Right now, I am traveling and am in New York City, and this place is so stimulating that gaming has not really evened occurred to me, and the friend I am staying with has tons of games and different consoles. I guess it just depends on my lifestyle at the time, but I do not really consider it a "funk".

I do play games once in a while but I am not a gamer. I can go without playing a game for a long time. I play games for recreational purpose and sometimes to squander time. However, I can subtitute that with other activities such as watching TV, watching movie on a DVD, reading a book, working in the garden etc. Since I don't over do gaming, I am still playing games when I have the desire to play.

I'm at the period as well where I'm bored and I'm just playing the same games over and over again. But that's mainly because I'm waiting for the new games to come out. I don't buy too many games every year and I'm in that period where it's time for me to buy new games. I've pre-ordered a few games and I am just waiting for them to come out now. I have never really got bored of video games in general and I doubt I ever will to be honest. If you can get a good collection of games, then you won't get bored at all.

No way! Since I have discovered GoG, Humble Bundle and Bundle Stars, I was always able to find some old gem or modern game on a discount to play. If you don't feel inspired about what to play I suggest giving this "Have you played" list a shot. Here is the link - https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/tag/have-you-played/. You can find many old and newer games which are really interesting.

It's taken my 4+ years but I have went from playing 14+ hrs a day and wasting my life away. To now I only play 1~3hrs a day and that totally satisfies my daily gaming desires. I don't want to sound like doom a gloom, but around 38 years old I realised that gaming isn't what it use to be and there are far greater things to do in life. And I have been living a very fulfilled life since I stopped the madness of playing 24/7.

Damn! I have recently realized the same thing, buddy! Gaming should be a stress relief activity but we shouldn't make our lives revolve around it. After all, we can't live real life online yes? That doesn't mean we should quit playing altogether but everything has limits. I feel happy we think the same way and that you realized this earlier rather than later ;)

I think it's pretty common for interest to increase and decrease over time. Even with other hobbies -- sometimes I'm really into reading, or movies, or jigsaw puzzles. Lately I'm in a "low" period for gaming AND reading. I guess my #1 thing right now is listening to podcasts? lol.
I don't think it's anything to worry about! Maybe if you take a little break from gaming, you'll come back and be just as interested as before!

My gaming slump isn't necessarily from boredom or disinterest in my games, but rather the fact that I'm incredibly busy currently and can't find time to play games. I was working through Dungeon Siege II and Stronghold Crusader the past couple weeks, but things have gotten really, really hectic for me lately. I've managed to put in a couple round of League of Legends with my roommate every week, but that's about the extent of my gaming right now.

I hope that once my schedule calms down and I can get back to casually playing games, the feeling will be incredible!

True, I haven't found a game that got me hooked in a while. The last game I played and actually, playing still is COC. I've been playing the game for 4 years now and I'm still enjoying it. Others are lucky enough if I wont delete the game instantly.

I try to avoid twitch for this reason. Seeing other people play and not exploring the games on your own. This reduces your interest. And as you can see it can be surely bad for health. It's kind of burnout if you ask me. I am avoiding most of the mainstream games. And sticking up with tower defense and FPS genre.
