Do people still play Terraria?

I think back when it was released, it was getting a lot more reception, both positive and negative. "Oh this is another knock off of Minecraft!" "No, this is actually really creative!"

However, I haven't heard much of Terraria in awhile. Do people still play?

Hey!

I still play Terraria and I have been since version 1.1.
While there are a lot of similarities between Minecraft and Terraria I personally think that there are a lot of differences too.

Minecraft is all about building, creating and surviving for as long as possible whilst Terraria has some kind of story line since you can summon bosses, do dungeons as well as activate hardcore mode making the Corruption spread. I guess it is possible to do some quests too on minecraft using mods but I feel like Terraria has a greater range of what you can modify.

To me, Terraria isn't all about building and expanding but about what you achieve and collect whilst Minecraft is the complete opposite.

I don't play Terraria but did have a lot of fun with it. It is a 2D minecraft but with more focus on combat. It also has some intense boss fights that gives it a edge over minecraft.

Hey there!

I currently don't play Terraria, but I must have put in thousands of hours into that game. It's just so much fun! However, after the 10th playthrough or so, there just isn't anything else left to explore or unlock. I'd definitely play again if a new update rolls out.

In the meanwhile, I'm keeping my ears open for some Terraria-like games. I just love its balance of crafting and adventuring!

I finished Terraria at 120 hours before update 1.2 came out. Barely touched it, but the last time I did I didn't even recognize the game. Somewhere, there's another 200 hours or so of gameplay waiting for me there, but I haven't gotten around to it just quite yet.
It is an excellent and very underrated game, I haven't played much Minecraft but I'd take Terraria over it every time.

I have almost 600 hours in Terraria, so yes, people still play the game. It's not a huge multiplayer game so people are playing it but it doesn't get talked about as much. Also updates aren't as frequent so there's less hype for new content. But if you check their official forums and stuff like that you will still see builders posting their creations every day.

Of course we do! I enjoy playing it every once in a while with some friends, specially when theres a new update out, even though we never get as far as the update content goes, we still have fun and die a lot, every time everyone gets distracted with their own thing, some of my friends enjoy making buildings, I enjoy making mostly useless things with wire and automate really simple things, this might be the reason why we never go further than the first few bosses in hard mode.

Played it quite a bit (maybe around 90 hours) back when it was sort of new. Eventually moved onto other games and kind of forgot about it. Recently I decided to download it again seeing that it had been updated and a lot of content was added, and I haven't looked back since.

Its still got that cute little charm it used to have and I love it. There's just so much in terms of content and so many things you can do. At the moment I'm starting off with a character that I plan to use exclusively with melee weapons and the respective armor and items. My only problem is that I get a little pedantic and end up wanting to restart because I made a mistake or got mauled by those pesky antlions.

But yeah, I feel like Terraria is one of those timeless games that will forever stay in it's fan's hearts.

I used to play Terraria a couple of years ago but very briefly. I hardly got into the Terraria franchise due to its off-putting graphics and it seemed to be buggy and faulty on my device back then.

Maybe I might return and try it out soon if I get the time.

I played Terraria a few times. For a while on my computer when it came out and then when it was free, I got it on Xbox 360 for having the gold membership or whatever it is called :) I really like how different it is compared to Minecraft even though many argued and still do, that it is/was its close. I tend to disagree because Terraria brings completely different elements - yes, it is also building and digging but there are far more complex things to explore too.

I don't currently still play Terraria because I got bored of it and prefer other games... but at some point in the future, I will surely play it again!

Hi primaLucid, I have played this game a lot in the past but I'm not playing anymore because there are console limitations. I hate when I am limited and this annoys me so much and I look for another game.

I recently downloaded it again actually. I used it play it with my friend and he got me back into it. He said that a lot has changed since we last played. The game itself was always solid, I thought. I really like the premise of starting as a humble nobody, exploring the perilous world around me and looting things to bring back to my base.
