Red Dead Redemption, I'll explain in the spoiler.

I am, of course, referring to the death of John Marston. He was so cool. Such a badass cowboy. He had an appealing story and grew throughout the game. He went from a bad guy to a good one just because of his family, can it get any more touching? He finally got together with his family, got a nice property and was excited to start a brand new life with his wife and son and then boom... he dies. I was so upset and even cried a bit. I really wanted a nice happy ending for John :(

I was waiting for someone to say Red Dead Redemption! That storyline captivated me for some reason. Including the shocking twist at the end. The particular scene you're talking about didn't make me cry. But I had those touchy feelings in my stomach.

Such a good story with a surprising ending!

My favorite death see was Lee's death in Telltale's The Walking Dead. I felt like I've known the guy for so long even though I only played him for a couple of days. It's no denying how much he loved Clementine despite the fact that she isn't even his daughter. It was even sadder because I couldn't refuse Lee's request to kill him so I had to shoot him, for his sake.

I have to say Lee from the first The Walking Dead game. It was so emotional and amazingly done that I'm not even ashamed because I cried like a baby.

Warning, Metal Gear Solid 3/4 spoilers (obviously) ahead.

The death scene which got me the most teary eyed was Big Boss' death at the end of MGS4. The death of The Boss at the end of MGS3 was close as well, however the difference is that I became attached to Big Boss far more than The Boss. You experience his beginnings in MGS3, start an army of mercenaries with him in Peace Walker, and essentially keeping playing him in the form of his genetic clone in MGS 1/2/4. By the end of fourth game you've grown attached to the man, and it's heartbreaking to see a legend die.

I was gonna say precisely that one! The nurse Lisa from Silent Hill, I cried like a baby, the music was beautiful and sad, that game makes me feel sad.

The only time death has ever effected me in a game was in Star Wars Republic Commando. Even though it was off screen, they spent the WHOLE game building up this sense of brotherhood, of family. I fought with them, killed with them, argued with them, and ultimately just tried to do our jobs and survive with them.

Then bam, dead. Nothing I could do. I expected another scene where I went after him and saved him, but nope. It was off scene, all you really got was him talking to you then silence. Only game that ever brought a tear to my eye.

Final Fantasy and Prince of Persia has some sentimental moments. There are also some such moments in Resident Evil. As you can see there are some moments in those games that did made me sad. I think games such as wolfestein too have some of such sad death moments. Even Devil may cry has some of such moments.
You talking about the Sands of Time one? I thought it was pretty predictable and the hero was incredibly stupid for it. It was obvious from the start who the villain was, and it was obvious Farah was on your side. That one moment of doubt was incredibly out of place since they bonded all game, and when they could have ended all of this, it turned into a disaster. I didn't feel bad on the death because the hero acted stupid and failed. It's his fault.

My favourite death scene for a video game would definitely have to be Assasins Creed Black Flag. There were actually quite few death scenes that I enjoyed during Assasins Creed Black Flag. So I'm not going to pick any favourites.

Well I was going to say Black Flag too but I have a specific death in mind. .

But since Black Flag have already been mentioned, I'll go with the finale of a pretty good and semi-unknown game, Valiant Hearts. If you played it, you know what I mean. I you don't... look it up, it might not look very good at first but it's one of Ubisoft best games.

Not properly a death scene, but seeing Wheatley (Portal 2) wander in space for eternity was sad and hilarious at the same time. I liked it, though.
As far as actual deaths are concerned, though, I'll go with Undertale:
In the Neutral route, when Flowey comes in and kills Asgore right after you think you had spared his life. It was so sudden, in-character...I was pissed off as hell, but that definitely stuck with me. Plus, it lead to an incredibly climatic battle.
If I had to name one sad death, though, I'd go with the obvious Final Fantasy VII one. I can't wait to see it in the remake.

My favorite all time death scene is when Bowser falls into the fire and the princess free from him. It's a scene from Super Mario Bros. I really like Bowser to be killed because he's physical appearance is as bad as his attitude lol.

almost every death in the genocide route belong to this topic! Expecially if you already played a pacifist route. Having to kill Papyrus is one of the hardest things to do in games... And for your first gameplay, you can't deny that the death - accidental, but it's your fault - of Toriel/Goat Mom hits you real hard

That's exactly what made me drop my Genocide playthrough. Killing Toriel once again wasn't as hard as I expected it to be, and I was somewhat driven by curiosity to see how she would have reacted to betrayal (talk until the end and kill her right before the final Mercy), but... God. That alone made me feel like a piece of crap.
I just couldn't bring myself to kill Papyrus. It felt like killing a kid or a puppy. Plus, I had already heard he would have died smiling right before vanishing. I... I couldn't.

Aeris dies. There...I said it.

But no, that was one of the craziest death scenes I've ever experienced in a game. I was a kid when that game came out and narratives like that weren't very common. They spent a huge amount of time building up her character and taking you through scenes designed to build your affection for her. Then, BLAM, spear to the gut half way through the game. You spend a few minutes in shock, and then the rest of the game wondering when she's coming back...but she never does. No one had a spare phoenix down for poor Aeris.

Aeris (or Aerith if you prefer) death is famous that almost became a meme on the Internet and always pop up when someone talk about deaths in videogame! On this very day there are still many urban legends about how you can save or revive her in the game (all ridicolous tasks, almost impossible for normal people).
Even Wreck it Ralph had a reference to it:

Hi, my favorite death scene in games was in the game CSGO. There are a lot of shooting and I think that the best scene in which I have died was when I got killed myself with a grenade!

There are even modifications made to the PC port of the game to get her back, that's how much people loved her. I can think of no other video game death that so thoroughly penetrated the culture, and that's far more impressive when you consider that the Aeris scene occurred in a time when gamer-culture wasn't ubiquitous. Today everyone hears when something big happens in a game because everyone's a gamer. Games are mainstream pop culture. Back then, it had to be Earth shattering to break out of the "nerd" label hard enough to be known by everyone. It's a testament to the power and skill of old school Squaresoft. Such a stable of talent has not been assembled under the same emblem again since, I don't think.
