Game add ons

Do you buy any game add ons like new maps, FIFA 12 packs, etc... with Microsoft points?

I've bought several map packs for the call of duty franchise, and also a few expansion packs for a few racing and just general games that I play. Haven't bought any in quite a while...probably won't be

We don't ever buy the ad-ons, but we definitely mod everything out that we can on our games. A lot of times, you can end up with a jiggy mod too that likes to freeze up your gameplay at the worst times, but I guess that comes with the territory.

Only time I buy add-ons is when the package deal includes them. For example, I really don't care about extra maps for Civ 5, but when I bought the Civ 5 game, they were having a sale on the entire package, with all the DLCs and maps included, so I bought it then. It was cheaper than the entire game on its own, and I got extra maps where I can play more. I never get out of my way to pay for just maps though. I don't think they are worth it.

I would only buy add-ons if they include a major feature or big addition, like a story that is still related to the main story of the game. If it were just cosmetic items for a single player game, then I would just leave it be. If the game is multiplayer I would still consider buy items not for the tactical advantage, but for the vanity.

I think game add-ons are a complete rip off. I feel like developers leave them out of the game so then can sell you them down the road to complete the game. These days if you want a complete game it costs $100+. Which is one of the reasons why I quit playing regular games and I am sticking with Minecraft. I am on a fixed income and if spending $60 on a game isn't already bad enough. It's a joke that they want you to spend $40+ to get the rest of the game!

If you count DLCs in, then yes, I'm a bit ashamed to admit I have. I only bought a couple for the Fire Emblem games on 3DS, since they were story-focused maps, but I didn't spend more than 5$ on either.
As for expansions, I always resisted the temptation. I remember hearing about The Sims' expansion packs a lot when I was younger, but the idea of buying them never even crossed my mind (maybe I simply didn't like The Sims enough).
One of the expansions I loved the most, though, was Shovel Knight's. They released all expansions for free to everyone who already owned the game, and so I ended up with three great new modes. I freaking love Yacht Club.

Well I do like add-ons/DLC. I think it gives the game replayability and longevity. I bought a lot of DLCs for borderlands this last summer sale since its so cheap and so far I am happy with the purchase. I do agree that some add-ons or DLC could get a bit ridiculous for its price and that just leave me having a bad impression with the studio.

The only way I can pay for add-ons is when they bring extra bonus or features, something that is going to enhance or improve gaming. Otherwise, definitively not a fan of doing investment for any add-on.
