Have you ever been forced to kick a member out of your team? Why were you forced to do this, and what happened when you did?

As a Guild master of a guild that had over 600 members, I had to do this lots of times. If you are unable to kick people when the time comes, then you may not be the right person to lead the clan/guild/team.

There was a time though I had to kick a member for things he would do, say, and react. After I kicked him he was making sure no one would ever want to be part of our guild. It really sucked as he made our reputation go down a lot. Eventually though he became known for just pissing people off and trolling, so our reputation came back.

eh my example would be kicking staff members off my Retros/RSPSs. Sometimes you just have to do it. You have to realize that people's lives don't RELY on being a member of that team or such and kicking them off won't ruin their lives. That is the main issue people have, they get to emotional when really all these online games are are businesses that need to be run accordingly. I've kicked people off that ended up trying to DDoS me, but in the end they always get over it and move on

Yes, I have had to kick a few people from my clan. Usually it's when people can't get along, or if they are just disrespectful to the other members. I don't really find it difficult.
It's the aftermath that I hate. For whatever reason, they feel the need to retaliate. The most recent person that was kicked created a new clan and tried to pull in our members. That is what I find to be the most difficult part of running a clan...

I had to kick a guy out of my clan (not the one I am in now) because he left his mic open and everyone in the game server heard him cussing and beating his kids. We just couldn't talk to him after that. This was almost 10 years ago. We never even told him why, just kind of let him go. I hope his kids are all right and if not I hope they kick his butt today.

It always made me sad to kick people, but sometimes, it needs to be done. You can't have one person ruining the game for everyone else.

We didn't have many rules (just common sense stuff mostly), but we did enforce the ones we had. We gave warnings, but some people just want to do what they want to do. It's better to let them go than to have everyone else upset.

For the most part though, we had a great group of people without much drama. I miss them.

I've had to kick quite a few people out of a guild before. If they can't follow guild rules, are harassing other members and generally aren't being a team player then it's time to let them go.

While it sucks to do so you don't want to lose other members or to run the risk of others not joining your guild because of this person.

That's true, and it's something we tried to impress upon our members. One person can give a whole guild a bad rep. Recruiting is hard enough without that kind of negativity.

Your other reasons are common sense as well. The few rules we had really were just that... common sense. Basically, don't be a jerk to anyone or act a fool. It shouldn't be too hard for adults to follow those, right?

I've only ever had to kick inactive members out so there was no drama or anything ever said. I've coached a few players on what there doing wrong and in my experience most people are understanding as long as you explain why they can't do something.

Yes, I had to kick a lot of members from my guild. Why I did it? I haven't check these members before to join so they were mean to the rest of the team, they didn't protect the guild as it should, besides, their language was awful.
I hate when this happens because after this I must recruit other members!

The only time I ever managed a guild or clan was in Clash of Clans. It's been a couple years, but naturally my clan consisted of close friends and not very many strangers. I had a friend who would rush his town hall upgrades before ensuring all of the other areas of his castle were upgraded fully, which ended up putting us up against more difficult clans during clan wars. This put us at a disadvantage because even though he had the highest level of town hall, his troops and defenses were incredibly under-leveled.

I talked to him about his tactics and he refused to stop going about playing the way he was, so I told him I was going to kick him for sake of the rest of our friends who were becoming discouraged with the game. He wasn't particularly pleased at the time, but we are still friends! I think he understood after a while.

I would kick someone of the clan if they are rude, cusses and annoying. That happens rarely because my clanmates show respect to others.

I never had to kick anyone because I have never been at the head of a clan. Still, i believe it's a painful but necessary thing. As a leader, you have to be concerned with the overall well being of your group and not of a particular individual. When a certain individual thinks he deserves special treatment of begins to pick fights with other members and so on you have to do what's best for the group.Being in a position of power requires you to do what's needed and not what you like. or find comfortable.

Exactly, @WarVet, but some people don't seem to understand that.

Some will also put up with a lot from someone who is an exceptional player. I'd rather play with someone who might be slightly less skilled but is a decent person. I want everyone to have fun. If one person acts like an elitist, it gets discouraging for others who may not be able to play at that level. We don't all have to be pros to have a good time and get stuff done.

Yeah, some people can't understand that the success or failure of a team depends on everyone. You can be an excellent player if your team abandons you're most likely toast. And you know what? In real life is the same deal. I can't remember the number of lousy co-workers I had who were only interested in intrigues and not on the overall well-being of the company. At the end of the day you either swim together or sink together there is no way out.

I was thinking of group projects in school. I always hated those. There was always at least one lazy person that put in no effort or was just off the wall with how they did things, but you were dependent on them for your grade. I always thought it was unfair and thought it sucked. I guess it was meant to teach us how to be team players though, since we do need that later in life. Everyone in the group should be held accountable though.

I think it works the same way with a guild or clan that participates in team based activities. Everyone has to contribute. Those who won't, bring everyone else down.

No, luckily I never had to kick anybody before. I was very rarely the ''bad guy''. But of course, my guilds did sometimes kick certain members. I remember once when we kicked one guy, he had close friends still in the guild and they messed up our whole forum and website. They hacked the owner and then posted vulgar things all over... it was so childish but it's just how people react when their ego is bruised. Most people don't take getting kicked too good!

Being a guildmaster was one of the hardest things that I had to do in my life. Because if you get a troll in the guild and you kick him 99% of the time people are going to take offence and leave the guild with them. And then you have the people that stay and complain that you kicked the troll and they liked them. But if you don't kick them they end up making the good people in your guild leave. So it's a no win situation.

Yeah man. In my experience, there were always a handful of lazy people who got good grades because of the hard work of others and usually a couple f poor souls who did everything. In university, those odds improve but not that much. People are usually more interested in helping but it breaks down to 50% of interested people and 50% of uninterested ones. Sadly it's human nature and until they come up with a way to evaluate everyone fairly I think it will continue to happen.

When you have a clan it's normal to have differences as long as you cooperate with each other. Having a clan can sometimes fun but disappointment too. Because of the differences, some members don't cooperate just like doing their own way of playing. It is one of the reasons why a member could be kicked. I know it because I am once kicked lol. Once you join the clan you should obey and cooperate because you shouldn't join them in the first place. You also accept that any moment you can kick so that it's not painful when it happens.
