Movies into Games

Excellent example! The games based on The Lord of the Rings franchise are pretty bad! It's kind of disheartening. :sweat:

Yeah man, i have to agree with you there! The third one was ok. But the first one was very bad. I don't know if there was one about the second movie or not. Such a rich universe could have yielded a much better quality game.

I was really impressed (negatively speaking ) with all the awesome aspects of the universe that the companies had in their hands and they didn't know how to take advantage of the best way.

Precisely. Imagine an RPG where you could create your character and fight the creatures or chose an existing character. Story related or not the universe is very rich and detailed. On another note, though I was mildly satisfied with Shadow of Mordor. Did you get a chance to play it?

Yes, and I have to admit that I quite liked the final result (because I wasn't expecting anything good from that game).

Yup me too. It gets repetitive but the game has some major highlights like the Orc vs Orc battle system, the combat system (Which quite frankly is one of the best I ever seen) And the graphics also. Storywise it was meh for me but the other points kind of compensate the first.

I think the "repetition" aspect is difficult to avoid sometimes, but the important thing is to have the high points so that the weak points can be forgotten (or at least not noticed so easily).

I kinda agree with you because sometimes I have the same impression. But I still prefer the animated movies than the live action ones.

Oh definitely. The live action ones strayed so far from the canon material they might as well call the movies "Zombie Shootem Up" and nobody would tell the difference. They just used the video game name for publicity and they never really took the game's story seriously. Just a fantasy type of shooting with zombies that are everywhere. No thanks.

You said the xxact spot: publicity. The movie is about Alice, only her and nobody else. It should have put the title like this: "The Adventures of Alice in the world of the Zombies". :tearsofjoy:

Goes back to one of the original movies into games... ET. most of the movie to games suck except there are a few exceptions I like such as James bond from Russia with love for PS2. Freaking loved the voice acting and the game play as well. That one of the very few games I would actually recommend as a movie to game.

I think turning games into movies is rarely a good idea cause most games are tailored for their respective gameplay. Although this is not entirely true, some games have awesome plots with minimal plot holes such as the last of us. Also turning games into movies takes away the element of involvedness. Movies into games however could go either way i just dont get how most game turned movies tend to suck so hard.

Kung FU Panda, Madagascar and Spiderman were good games. Mostly TV shows turned into games have been a big let down. I was so exited for LOST and Duck Dynasty and they were just a big let down! Other TV turned games I can think of are mostly Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon and Disney shows. Stuff like Ed,Edd and Eddy, Sponge Bob, KND Kids next door and Phineas and Ferb were hits and misses. I will always love Ed, Edd and Eddy!

Most tie-ins suck. They're simple money-makers who live off the original series' popularity, producers don't even want them to be good games (because they would have to invest way more money).
The only exception are older sagas with vast universes to expand upon. Shadow of Mordor is a good game, for instance, and so are both Star Wars: KotOR games; Alien: Isolation and Mad Max are other great examples. The Harry Potter games are not that bad, except for the DS games. Those are straight up terrible.

Hi, there are a few films are there made into games, and some of these are Mortal Kombat, Lara Croft: Tomb Rider, Resident Evil, Doom, Hitman, Warcraft, Assasins Creed. These are the one that I know but there may be much more!

That is true. And for some unknown reason movie directors tend to change everything within the plot while keeping the name of the characters. The end result is a lot of game fans pissed to see their beloved story twisted and many other unsuspecting expectators still not fully grasping what the story is about.

If speaking about movies turned into good games I could name a few. Maybe the Diehard game but that was back then in SNES. Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor based on the Lord of the Rings so I do not really know if that one counts. Haven't watched Castlevania yet so I do not really know if its good or not.

I was a kid when I played one of the Harry Potter DS games, and the one I had played before it was the PSX version of The Chamber of Secrets, which I had a lot of fun with. I was so incredibly disappointed.
Yeah, I played the first Spiderman game on the PS2 and it was quite good, moving by shooting webs was amazing. Still, the best movie/comic adaptation has to be the Batman series, hands down. It's a miracle rights were given to Ubisoft.

The Walking Dead : Survival Instinct is the worst game that I have ever played. I didn't appreciate the storyline, graphics and the soundtrack. I was so disappointed with this game. Wasted my time and money on this worthless game.

I already read the books and watched the movies, but I never played the game. Can you tell if it's worth it? :sweatsmile: Because I liked the books and the movies (especially the second one :smiley.

Yes I quite liked it! If you like the books and the movie you are definitely going to enjoy it!. I also like the secong movie better because they've got better effects and the history was deeper in to the scorch. seeing the scorch propertly was really scary too lol!

I think that the Chronicles of Riddick was pretty good, and a few years ago, I played a Boba Fett game, on a Gamecube, I must admit, and I really enjoyed that, but I can't remember the name of it offhand. I think that Star Wars story lines and side story lines make for great games. Other than that, as this forum statistically concurs, to a degree, it would seem that movies to games is not always very successful.
