I do. But you don't have to.

You can any strike/any weekly event as long as there is no "Lightswitch" Modifier, which makes the enemies one-shot melee kill you. In those cases, if you still melee, then I'd show the flow chart to them. Though Hunter's Knife throw is probably the best all around melee since it's ranged and has a talent to reset it if you throw well. I've chucked five daggers before just crit shotting things.
