So, did GTA 5 online live up to the hype when you started playing?

I remember when I got the game to find out that online isn't going to be available right away, that made my anticipation for online play go threw the roof. I heard that the developers wanted people to play the campaign first before going online, so they just held back on it. I don't know if that was the real reason, but it worked for me.

I also remember always wanting a GTA game to have online play, and then when I heard the news that 5 was going to have it, I just fell in love with Rockstar.

I want to know what you remember feeling when you started playing GTA 5 online.

I used to be all about the GTA games, but my interest has since soured a little bit. That said, I was just not all that excited to get GTA 5 so my expectations would strangely low, although I knew it would be petty impressive. I know that a lot of my friends who still like the games say that they love it, so I guess that is good news. I am glad that you got your GTA to go online. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, definitely lived up to the hype in my opinion. I've had so much incredible fun with GTA online, and have made some really good friends while playing, that I never would have met. I don't understand why a lot of people whine about how GTA is supposed to be a single player only game.

I've always been a huge GTA fan (as you can probably tell from my avatar) so I might be a bit biased but in my opinion it surpassed what people expected I think. There aren't many companies that will carry on not only supporting, but introducing new features to the online content of a game so long after it first came out. Even now Rockstar are adding more and more features and while I think a lot of people might now be wanting them to start on the next game in the series, we appreciate that at the same time they are still supporting this game as well still.

Initially, no it did not live up to my expectations. I was one of the first players to use GTA V online. The servers were jammed packed. At the same time, my internet connection was not at its best at the time. Combine laggy gameplay with crowded servers, it wasn't really a good experience. Several months later after a couple of updates, along with changing ISP providers and upgrading my router. I returned to try GTA V online gameplay and have had quite a good time ever since!

To answer your question, it "eventually" lived up to the hype after a couple of configurations on my part, along with Rockstar Games.

Yeah, I remember that they didn't release the online option until later on. I was pretty sad initially because I was eager to try it out but I understood why. Like you've said if they released online right away most people probably wouldn't bother playing through all of the campaign.

To answer your question, yes it definitely lived up to my expectations. I wanted to try GTA online ever since I first played GTA III which is a LONG time. I always wondered how they would make it. Would they change it completely? Would they put in a different map? How would they prevent us from just killing each other over and over? Would there be missions like in the campaign? and more. Well, all of that got answered with the GTA V.

I still remember when I connected online for the first time and had the option to create and customize my character a bit then boom, I spawned in the GTA world. It was amazing! The first thing I did, I went to check out all the different clothing stores and see what they're selling. Then I stole a nice racing car and drove around for hours.

I love Rockstar Games and their dedication. They are one of the best companies out there. They could be charging us for all of these DLC that they are releasing for online mode yet they don't. God bless them.

Any game that requires "virtual currency" that you have to purchase with real money is a no-no for me. Spending real money on the entire game, sure, but for specific items that only affect the game's aesthetics, or make you imbalanced is definitely a crime that should not be promoted in gaming. Gone are the days when you play for fun, no you pay to win, which sucks for gamers who barely have any money for the game.

However, you don't have to spend real money to get the currency. GTA 5 does a good way of not implementing a paid to win game. You can earn your cash pretty easy if you actually do missions and heists. HOWever, if all you do is mess around then yes, you will find it hard to earn money.

They offer options to buy the currency for those lazy people. However, it is not required to purchase it :)

When I started playing, yeah, it definitely lived up to my expectations and it was loads of fun. I have completed the SP, it was really nice, but I have concentrated more on multiplayer. When you first start there are many things to do.

First thing after few missions were the heists. Every time you play a heist for the first time, it had its magic moments and things you didn't really expect. Hell, it was even hard on normal difficulty when you started out. With time by redoing them you could have found out some new strategies how to pass certain harder parts of the heist and that was a fun thing, too.

Other than that, I used to spend hours without actually doing any missions or heists. I would just drive around, fly around, kill people or start waging war with cops & military and if you played with friends it was extremely fun and offered loads of laughs.

It had lots of good content, but with time, the hype went down, at least for me. It came to mostly repeating the same things, grinding money by doing the same heists over and over and after some time I gave up on it. Remember when that golden plane that costs 10 million $ came out. That really made me mad.

I didn't even collect money to buy some decent cars, a war plane, how in the hell was I able to get 10 more millions to buy a golden plane.

I haven't tried it out after countless new updates they have released, but I bet it would get boring after some time again.

It is a good way to get money without investing the real money. GTA is all about playing a game rather than paying for winning it. You can earn more cash by completing your mission. Buying money is the option for those people who are not expert at this game.

When the game first came out I think it lived it up to mostly everyones expectations because we didn't know what to expect. I think now though, after the game slowed down for a bit and now that they have come out with a lot of updates, it is really living up to the hype because there's so much to do now!

When it first came out, it was the only game I played. It was so much fun. Plus the fact that Grand Theft Auto was my favourite game series in addition to the fact that this was the largest Grand Theft Auto game ever, it just took over me and I spent hours every day playing. I even stayed at home on the day that the Online mode was to be released but I only got a few hours of gameplay because the servers were absolute crap that day. I still love GTA and I play it occasionally but the fact that Rockstar has made everything expensive whilst not giving us much money per mission makes it boring and repetitive. I don't want to spend hours grinding missions to afford one car, I want to enjoy myself.
