Even though I am an enthusiastic PC gamer these days, my memories of playing PC games as a child are pretty faint. At first I had believed that my first PC game was either some Sonic the Hedgehog game with Knuckles in it, or one of the Space Quest games. But going even further back from owning my first PC, I remember playing Doom II on my cousin's computer and being terrified of all the enemies and creepy gameplay.

Wow, now that I think about it, I never finished Doom II. I think I know what I'm playing today.

Zork was the text based game right? It was interesting to me even though I didn't play it because it ran completely on text and imagination. You really couldn't do anything much other than pick choices and read what happens next, picturing it all in your head. I swear they made up for the limited technology back then with using up whatever they can to create their games. Still, it's a lot more fun now even though we have to pay literally hundreds for a bunch of AAA games.
I feel you man. Yeah, Zork was text-based. I liken it to reading novels (which I'm a big fan as well) or those choose-your-own-adventure books (which I also adored). Back in the day, my family wasn't really able to afford a computer nor were computers that popular back then, some even thought it was a fad, but I loved those books. They really felt like a video game.

The oldest PC game I've ever played was probably Diablo. I played it on my uncle's PC before I even knew PCs had games, it was the only game he had at the time. It was such a good game at the time, and it really scared me as a kid. The feeling of being alone in a really big dungeon full of corpses that suddenly rise up from catacombs, it was so immersive for me at the time and kept me from playing the more "hellish" stages of the game.

Hahaha, I played it! Thinking back now I can't help but wonder how such a simple game could scare me so much as a kid. Do you recall the funny face he made when he got the chainsaw? Priceless hahaha

The first time I had a PC was the 486 desktop, I had played Pac Man, The Legend of Kyrandia, the music and background graphic were superb then. Tetris, never got tired of it until now . Back then, all games were in floppy diskettes, CD Rom was not invented yet. Imagine being in the dino era!
Pac-man and Tetris were the leading games of that time. They seemed perfect in every form ranging from sound, graphics, music and concepts. But if we compare them with today, they lag so much far behind. It gives me immense pleasure to witness such tremendous advancements in gaming technology.

Yeeeeeeesssss! I remember VCop too, was trying to remember the name while i was posting on the topic, cracked my brain to no avail till i was reading through everyone's oldest PC game the ever played. You know my favorite scene for this gaming experience? That has to be when you have to battle the bad guy at the last level. This is one game I completed all levels without trouble. Could play from my sleep.
From your sleep. Haha, that's some addiction there!
Yep, I remember that part where you hit the keys with "The Boss" that splashes some really huge and round bullets on you. I failed multiple times at that stage but when I finally got a hang of it? To hell with the boss, I could also kill it from my sleep. Lol

Being busy at work I rarely play games nowadays. The oldest pc game I played recently was Solitaire lol. I remember when I was a kid when the internet doesn't exist, playing this game is my favorite, especially after work. This game doesn't need an internet connection and it's absolutely free as long as your using Microsoft windows operating system on your pc.

Yes, nowadays, the games are so advanced that nobody wants to play the latest tetris or pac man anymore, unless for old folks.

My oldest gaming memories associated with PC includes all the card games that were available around 20 years from now. Those included Solitaire, Spider Solitaire, Free cell, Hearts... Apart from these there was Minesweeper, Pinball and Blast Thru. There were still some other game which I used to play but somehow I'm unable to recall the names at present.

Yes I can still recall those games. They were quite fun to play at that time too. It has been a very long time since I last played those games.

Well! The oldest game that I played was Need for Speed 2. I can still remember that I was addicted to this game. My favourite car was Ferrari F50. It was fast and very light at the same time. However, I did not like playing against someone who used to drive the Mclaren F1. It is really the fastest car in this game.

Recently I played the Android version of Spider Solitaire on my phone. It was equally addictive as it was then. Little did I realize that I had spent a complete hour in playing the game over and over again.

Mine would be Dave. Almost all of my friends started their game life with this game. It was classic at that time. We would sneak into the computer lab and play there for sometime and leave. We were never caught as we used to switch among our gameplays. A day a guy and 10 mins. That was the rule.

So this game is available on the PlayStore. That's some good news. I will download it. This is a good game and one is bound to get addicted playing it.

Yes it is available on Playstore. The look and the graphics are also good. I found it as addictive as it was in the prior PC version. I hope you also have a good time playing it. It works as a great stress buster for me. I play it intermittently all through the day.

I remember playing final fantasy and zelda. And those were the oldest one on the console. And now playing them on ROM makes me feel nostalgic. It can be fun to play those old games. Not that those games don't have remake. But it makes me feel good to have those games turned into something good and even movies of them coming out.

It's funny, but I remember way back, around 98 playing my first Prince of Persia ever, it was on Windows 98 (Of course) and I remember it was SO, SO hard, that I would literally scream in anger everytime I failed a level. It eventually got so bad that my mom forbid me from playing it (Yes, come on, I was only 6 years old) but that didn't stop me from falling in love with the series. :D After that, another game I remember (But really underground, if you ask me. Most of my friends haven't heard of it) was called "Supaplex" this was early 2000's and PC games weren't that big yet, but even to this day I've been looking for some other Supaplex enthusiasts and haven't been able to find them, lol. But an amazing game, for sure!

The first games that I played on my PC were the pre installed games like Solitaire and Cheess. Before, I had a PC I had never played games. Therefore, soliltaire or chess on the computer screen was an amazing experience.

I don't if Space Cadet counts, as it was part of Windows OS. I remeber one of the first games that I used to play was Dune. And after that I started playing real time strategy games, like Age od Empires, Command and Conquer. I played Doom too. Those were the games I played more, but not the oldest. I once played a play that worked on MS-DOS, it was Test Drive.

EFFING PINBALL WAS THE FIRST, DON'T LIE.

My very first PC game was actually... (Don't laugh.) a Barbie game my parents gifted me when I was really young. Barbie Explorer, it was named. And let me tell you, for this 6 year old girl, that game was the BOMB. I think that was my first experience with PC gaming other than Pinball.

The first PC game I actually chose for myself though... Probably both Age of Empires II and Age of Mythology around the mid-2000s. I've always been a huge mythology/history nerd and it was instant love when I saw them at the game store.
