Using Cheats

Yeah, I have to agree with you when you say that it gets boring. I used cheats and mods for a week or two which got old really fast. Now I've just moved onto other games.

I played San Andreas with cheats at first. Never wanted, infinite health, etc. Made the game too easy in my opinion, and the thrill of outrunning the police was never experienced. I tried again this time with no cheats activated, and I can honestly say I earned all those missions. They were easy enough to begin with, but you'll appreciate surviving gun fights more and would feel like a pro killer.

Yes I use cheat in Grand Theft on my system. There are some hard stages and some situations I just have to use cheats. But mind you I don't do it always because it can spoil the fun of the game.

One point I forgot to mention in my post, and which is especially true for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, was that cheats can be a value-added proposition. Especially after completing the game fair and square, I had a very good time using cheats to give me the best weapon sets and more than enough ammo for a small army. I would try to be a super villain and cause as much havoc as I possibly could for as long as I could. I found if I got holed up in the right places I could more or less outlast the military indefinitely, which is something I doubt would be possible, or at least practical, without the cheat codes. So again I'd say the value of cheat codes is more in how you use them, if you use them.

Rarely, if ever. I certainly don't use them during my first playthrough, nor if I'm replaying the game for exploration purposes or to achieve different endings. I don't want to ruin the challenge. I did use cheats for GTA: San Andreas, though, of course, but that's a different case. That's more of an open game, it's much more about having fun on your own than following the game's storyline, and the fact that there are native cheats is only further proof.

I liked the invulnerability and super punch cheats. You'll feel like Superman when everyone's shooting at you and you slowly walk towards them, not being hurt at all. Then you hit them with a punch and they go flying. For the racing parts, I don't use cheats but I did enjoy doing the misc races during the riots part of the story. Lots of exploding cars, exploding cop motorcycles, people fighting in the streets; it was the most awesome racing experience ever.

I really only use cheats after I beat the game and then I start a new one for the cheats just to play for fun because sometimes you want to just play a game and have fun and be able to do what you want.

I use cheats when I am bored and cannot get past a certain point in the game. I rarely use cheats though. Sometimes like especially in Super mario 64, I use AR codes just to troll around and have some fun.

Sometimes I would agree to using cheats only if the game is rediciously difficult or boring, otherwise I would not use cheats because the victory is just way sweeter when you put your own hard work in it

In single player? Yes, who cares. It depends on the game of course: for example a series like GTA is a classic for cheats, I remember that I kept a paper with all the cheats written on it on my San Andreas copy, back in the PS2 years. Or, when I didn't have a memory card yet, I remember lot and lot of passwords for the first Crash Bandicoot... I know they aren't exaclty cheats, but I never actually completed all of the levels.
But in online games? No way. That wouldn't be fair, and cheaters in online games are the worst kind of people.

When playing a game, do you use cheats to help you complete it faster or just for the random fun it may add to a game? Or you a purist and do you not use cheats at all?

I will use cheats i if I get bored, but then again, like in the GTA series, i use them just for a laugh as they make things more enjoyable for myself. I play for fun and not to complete a game or achievements so I just use them when I feel like it really.

It really depends. I like doing things on my own and try not to use cheats. However, sometimes if I get stuck on a game or extremely bored, I will use a cheat every now and then. But most of the time, I like putting in the work and doing it on my own.

Personally, I don't like using cheat while playing any game but some levels on some games cannot just be passed easily without using cheat and I don't like wasting my time on particular level for a long time.

Game cheats can be so useful and come in handy sometimes. Especially when one is stuck at a stage and finding it hard to scale through that stage, using cheats can be of great help. But beyond that using cheat can take away the fun in gaming. Game is not suppose to be easy. Adrenaline suppose to flow when gaming but using cheats can take away this feelings.

Hate using cheats, used to bot on several mmorpgs though but only because I couldn't be bothered to grind monsters for 12 hours so I let my bot do it for me.

It's all about earning your happy ending, and I feel like using cheats to make the game easier (when you're trying to beat the game) is just a waste of time since you may as well enter a code that finishes the game right there.

Yes you are right using cheats take away the bragging power of a gamer. But you have to agree that there are some stages during play that gamers will require help. Especially that one keep repeating over and over again with a breakthrough. If you want to remain on that position that using cheats or watching how to play tips remove the bragging right then also playing a stage over and over till you master that stage and scale through is equally wrong and a waste of time like wise remove bragging right because you could have won the stage straight up without being defeated.

Yup, so it really sucks when I see players on Youtube bragging how they got a million gold in Witcher 3 after the tutorial area. Like, did you earn all that or did you use an exploit or cheat to do it? If so, then why brag about it? Anyone can cheat the game to make the game easier. It's another to do a speedrun or a no death run on Youtube. Now THAT requires skill. Not having to exploit cheats just so you can say you can buy everything in the game after 15 minutes into the game.

Using cheats while gaming is a total off for me, I try to play games at the most difficult level, it is a whole new experience for me and I actually consider them victories unlike when I use cheats.

On the flip side, one of my favorite Gamecube games of all time is Tony Hawk's Pro-Skater, and I'm unashamed to say that I abused the "unlock everything" cheat code to further my enjoyment of it.

Pokemon has cheats? lol, it's a kids game, who cheats on that? And I think it's not worth it since using cheats in some games either disables your achievement progress and you'll have to start a new game, or it will ruin your save file and then you'll need to start a new game. Definitely not worth it if you consider you're already halfway through the game, enter a cheat, ruin your save, and repeat the entire thing all over again.
