Here's a few virus removal tools, that are certainly worth keeping on hand. Now they don't replace your current AV, but more so can be used to remove malicious content that your Antivirus failed to detect.

Kaspersky: http://www.kaspersky.com/virus-removal-tools

Avira AntiVir: http://www.avira.com/en/support-download-avira-antivir-removal-tool

Avast: http://www.avast.com.au/utilities/virus-cleaner

McAfee Stinger: http://www.mcafee.com/us/downloads/free-tools/stinger.aspx

AVG: http://www.avg.com/us-en/homepage

Symantec Endpoint Protection: http://www.symantec.com/endpoint-protection/?inid=us_ps_flyout_prdts_endptprot

You missed MBAM and Spybot. ;) Good list otherwise, although, I wouldn't have anything McAfee there.

It isn't particularly a 'virus removal' tool, but Malware bytes is pretty awesome. I run it occasionally and it has kept me pretty clean. That's on top of my Symantec Endpoint Protection. Haven't had any issues since i've used this combo. The get caught well before they have the chance to do anything.

Hey Guardian,

Actually yes it is. Its a anti-malware software, and virus falls in malware.

It's fantastic. I've had 0 issues since switching to it 5 years ago. Before I used AVG and Avast and had issues with both. Something got through every now and then. Symantec hasn't let me down yet. I recommend it to anyone, if you can afford it. It is pricy.

If I'm not getting any detections for 6 month, I can't help but think something is wrong. I'd install another program and scan everything, if it comes out clean, great else I was right. :p The av databases keep growing everyday, why? because there are programmers around the world creating new types of malware everyday. I've heard of 125 line malware programs, thats insanity, So 0 issues for so long has to be something bad, your not updating your army, or much worse, you haven't been online for a really long time and somehow didn't notice. :p The brighter scenario would be all black hat programmers have decided to switch to the white hat world, perhaps after a few million years.

Add MBAM also, it runs smoothly along with Anti-virus programs. Should be installed on every Windows machine.

No, I get PLENTY of detected issues. I meant 0 issues that have caused me any problems. I go too many places not to have anything happen. :p I have a very carefree approach on the internet, I go anywhere, do what I want, and I have not had any INFECTIONS since using Symantec. :D

One advice then, don't use that pc for anything money related. Use debian or ubuntu so you safly type the bank info with no one half way around the world watching you. :p

You guys think AVG is the best?

My Norton has expired and it has got the job done for me. So I am debating on renewing it or switching to another software.

Avast + MalwareBytes. Unless you want to buy Kaspersky Internet security.

Avast: http://www.avast.com/index
MBAM: http://www.malwarebytes.org/
