WHY do you game?

This is a very good question. I play because it helps me to escape from my reality, I can forget about my problems while I play and I also meet incredible people. Besides I enjoy when I can finally do something great and people give me recognition
The games are better than drugs and alcohol lol

For me gaming was like a daily activity, the second thing i do after done eating or after school. But now only in my free time just to have fun and enjoy the moment.

Games for me are great for relaxing and rejuvenating. The fun's there, but gaming is my way of releasing stress, anxiety and the unnecessary emotions. Its an escape from reality and just takes me to a different world where I can just have fun and enjoy to my heart's content.

Good god. So much for "buy once, play forever". Never heard about that premium monthly thing until now and I'm glad I did, that's such a huge ripoff. I'll need horses to travel through the map too? It doesn't have a fast travel option? That just sucks so bad, we all know how big Elder Scrolls Maps could get, and it's even a tedious task to go from point A to Point B without fast travel.

And the goddamn Morrowind DLC costs $50, while the base game was around $25 when I got it. Seriously, this was my first online game and I just felt like they're milking all the money out of my account with misc payments. You know you can get pets there? Each pet has a price in "coins", so basically a house cat that accompanies you (all for aesthetic purposes, they don't fight or anything) is about $5. Five freakin' dollars for a virtual cat. Pretty sure you can get a real life cat for less than that.

I've always played games for the challenge. I like challenging the game at it's hardest level and with online games I like challenging other people to see how good I am. So yeah I play games to actively sharpen my skills and to compete with other people.

I game to get better at video games. In World Of Tanks I've actually gotten to the top 1% of the playerbase. I've used this to offer paid coaching and even participate in esport events.

There is so many you can do now, there's no way you can get bored. You can follow a story, challenge yourself, in some cases even get a workout. There are real pets at that are cheaper/free and could do a hell of a lot more. But yeah, it's more about aesthetics. The house cat is the cheapest; you can get wolves, mythical creatures, etc; but you'll have to pay quite a decent sum though to get them. It's not having a companion or mascot, it's basically saying to everyone who sees you, "hey look at what I can afford."

I like the mentality but I think the main downside of that is you can only be an expert on one game. Switch to a different game, say MOBA, when all your life you worked on your FPS games, then you'll be back in the newbie corner with everyone else new to the game. For me it's just all for fun; no mastering stuff, no remembering every combination for fight games; I just enjoy myself and waste time while I'm at it.

Playing games againts a buddy screaming obsenties at each others, so it's also a very social experience if you want to. So yeah, it's fun , competitive and a social if you do local multiplayer.

I play games for the buch of benefits that comes with it, from making new friends to actually having a break time, also I think videogames are a form of art because there is so much work put into it even in the golden age of videogames when we started seeing the first polygons all the companies worked the hardest for a game to have the best music, the best colors and give the player the best experience. Now with things like virtual reality and other immersive technologies I just think there are so many reasons to keep playing videogames.

Yeah, playing multiplayer with friends is great. I used to play L4D2 and Dota 2 with my classmates back in college when we had breaks. Playing with online people can be a chore though. Lots of toxic players online, so it's not really all that fun when your teammate is flaming everyone for not doing everything he commands. It can be annoying and it can ruin people's experience when playing online, especially competitive ranked matches.

Your achievements in Steam must be perfect. The only ones I don't usually do in achievements are those that require you to finish the game in the hardest difficulty, finish the game with 3 or less saves, finish the game under 3 hours, finish without dying, etc. I think those would just frustrate me to no end when playing so I don't even try.

Indeed! Videogames are the cinema of the future. Still, i miss the vintage games. As technology would not allow for better graphics or gameplay it seems producers took the time to develop stories better. Nowadays some games are just dull and cliche. It's not that today's games are bad it's just that the focus switched. The same happened to music.

It's like they don't want to try something new, you know? It's basically because they're contented with whatever they were doing before - and they know it would sell well, so they don't bother trying to create something innovative or different. They're afraid this change will alienate their fan base so they just stick to what they know.

There are a few (Mostly independent) Content producers that still remain creative out there, however.

But there is a fine line between doing that and just remaking the same old games over and over. There are a few (Mostly independent) Content producers that still remain creative out there, however.

The better evolved games and the ones that try something new are more for indie games these days. Most AAA games don't try to be different; most just milk their franchises to the ground because they will always have a fanbase that will purchase stuff for them. You wanna make a change? Support the indie guys who actually have a passion for gaming and not just for profit.

Better than doing drugs and getting into trouble, I say. Spending a few bucks a month on games is still a lot better than most hobbies out there, and it's a lot safer too since you don't get into trouble sitting in front of your computer. Players of games shouldn't be condemned for that; there are lots of other ways to waste money and time but not all are advisable.
