There is without a doubt that many of us that have owned a Xbox 360. Have a horror story during our time of owning or even borrowing one. My horror story is that my Xbox 360 was RROD right out of the box. After numerous back and forth with Microsoft. They finally sent me a brand new console that lasted for a good two years. What are you guys horror stories?

I wouldn't consider mine a complete horror, but it feels that way to me. I've had my Xbox 360 for less than a year and I've been happy with it(even though I wanted a Playstation 4, but let's not go there). Last month, I was going to my game room to play one of my favorite games on Xbox, Mass Effect 3. I have the whole trilogy and I like to play it all kinds of different ways. I'm sitting down, power up the console with my controller and then when I've logged in I find out that the left analog on the controller wasn't working. I tried everything I could think of to get it to work (I searched all over the internet for a solution) and I decided to try and take the controller apart and make the fix my self. I'm not the best at soldering, so I completely wrecked the circuit board and now I am stuck with a broken controller and an Xbox that can't play anything but Kinect games for the time being. I am seriously suffering through some major withdrawal (that's the true horror in all this) and I can't do anything about it until I get some money. Either that, or I can save trade in my Xbox 360 and put the money towards getting a Playstation 4.

I haven't had horror stories. I had one of the older ones and yeah, it RRODed on me, but the painful part was when I was trying to switch all of my game history my new one and somehow deleted all of my progress on Burnout Paradise. All of those hours down the drain. I didn't actually cry, but I did sit in a corner rocking for a bit.

Now, the other day, my rather new controller just stopped working on me. That is both baffling and frustrating as I rarely played with it and certainly never dropped or threw it, so I don't know why it keeps turning off in the middle of play. I still had an old one to use, but I need to figure out what the heck happened.

Well, depending on how it is that your controller is not working, the controller probably is malfunctioning due to the inside components getting dirty(if you've had it for a couple months, then it's plausible), or the soldered connections on the circuit board inside the controller are bad. If you have a warranty your best option would be to just get it looked at in stores, so they can fix it for you. I would have done that if I had a warranty. Now I have to buy a completely new controller since I didn't have a spare.

Ok, so when I got my Xbox 360 from my uncle, it was fine. Had it about a year at the time and it was great. I had long sessions of different games I liked and recently got the Soul Calibur IV. So, one hot summer, I played my game. Everything was fine, I played for a few hours and then turned it off to do something about the house. After several hours, I came back to the game and then wanted to play more Soul Calibur IV. I turn on my system: Flashes red.

I didn't know about the RROD, so I thought I did something wrong. So, I fix things around, turned it on and off adjusted the cords and everything else in the book. Still didn't turn on. So, I was freaking out and I thought I did something wrong. I told my dad, he got upset and was fussing that it would cost too much to fix and that I should have been more careful. It wasn't until I went to college that it got fixed and found out that it WASN'T my fault. Microsoft just did this themselves because they wanted to put out a faulty product and make a quick buck instead of making it quality. -.-

I got a good one. I was playing xbox on my gaming tv (the suit case looking one). When I went to put it down, I guess I must of angled it wrong, because I heard an extremely horrifying scraping sound. Some how, my xbox killed my dead island game. It looked like Freddie Cruger got a hold of it XD. That sucked extremely badly.

I think the only other time I've had trouble with an xbox, is it lags when I play in a certain area of skyrim. To be fair, could be the games fault, I'm not completely sure.

My horror story is that I was carrying all of my xbox components up the stairs. I made it to about the fifth step before I dropped the console. Ever since then we've have problems with it staying connected to live and the disc drive not opening if there wasn't a game in there.

Sometimes I still wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat due to this. A few games fell off my shelf on top of the open disc drive, breaking both it and something inside of the console. It's now located in the local graveyard, R.I.P.

I haven't really had a horror story as it has been resolved with minimal pain (if you don't count all the initial stress and freakouts, and the time spent without the console). I had the dreaded RROD sent it in to get it repaired, done did it, a while later same thing happened this time they sent me a new one. That was with the Xbox 360.

Last year I bought a used Xbox One off Amazon, the kinect wasn't working so I contacted them. They ended up exchanging it for a brand new Xbox One and a free game. So I suppose I have been lucky in the sense that my horror stories end up not being so scary after all. :p

I had the "rings of death" happen a few years back. It was fairly easy, I just sent it off and they sent ti back within a short while and gave me a free xbox live gold subscription. I haven't had any problems with it since, and I use the 360 daily. That must have been about 3 or 4 years ago.

I remember my friend got the Red Ring of Death while we were playing the 360. At first, we didn't know what was going on, until we looked it up. Luckily, he also had a Wii so we played that while he sent his Xbox out for repair.

As for me, the horror is that it's already a month and 5 days today and counting of my Xbox 360 Slim RDOD problem. I still don't have extra funds to get it fixed (priorities first). I thank God my PS3 is still alive or I'll go nuts. I also don't live in the US so I can't ship it for repair because who knows what'll happen (I might not get it back) and it's expensive paying for the shipping fee, repair fee and Customs. The only option is having it fixed here but I have to look for someone who is trustworthy enough who looks like he could fix it without overcharging me. Also the guy better fix it permanently not just a quick fix. I don't want to go back again and be charged again after a few days or weeks for his incompetence. Dammit.

Ive suffered through a RROD. That wasnt out of the box though, so my Horror story isnt as bad as that, just that i suffered a red ring and it hurt me emotionally.

I think most peoples is the RROD, however, I was unfortunate enough to have my console freeze while I was 1 kill awake from a nuke in MW2. I had to turn it off and when I turned it on, well, RIP

I bought a 360 back when they were first released. Waited in line for hours and a week after it was plugged in, it stopped working. I wasn't even given the curtsy of a red ring, it simply wouldn't power on. After getting a replacement from Microsoft(stores everywhere were sold out) it got a red ring the next day. I now refuse to pay money for a Microsoft game console and the only reason we own one is because it was given to me for work.

I got a 360 back in 2008 and during the course of their run I had at least one that gave me a RROD. The other I had to sell due to problems I don't remember at the time.

Do gaming experiences on it count? I had one during a race on Forza Motorsport 2 where some guy tries to push me off the track but was not having it and stood my ground. Straight after the race ended he messaged me calling me all of the stuff under the sun and trying to say that it was me who pushed him. He also gave me a bad rating I believe.

I had a first generation Xbox that died on me with the dreaded red ring thing, I never replaced it. I then got a 360 that died but not immediately, I used that extensively. I actually was able to repair it using a weird trick that I found online: you cover the thing with lots of blankets so it overheats on purpose and leave it on for a couple of hours, this somehow melts something inside and if you are lucky enough when it cools down again some of the connections that were damaged could get restored. Lo and behold, the thing came back to life! I couldn't believe myself but it worked. The horror story is that eventually it died again. I got a new one and use it even today, the thing is almost 10 years old!

My horror story is that my console actually ate one of my brand new games. I always made sure that it was in the disc reader correctly, but for some reason, my console decided it was going to destroy it. I was so upset that I had just spent $60 on Dead Island, just for it to eat it. I called Gamestop to ask if the had ever heard of that happening and they said "yeah, sometimes it does. We can't do anything for you though. You can take it up with Microsoft if you want.". It has never done that to any other game, but now, I make sure that the games I buy are used.
