Why do you think Minecraft has become so popular?

The game model was pretty great. It's literally a "make your own adventure" game. There are no quests. You are just spawned in some world without any direction on what to do. You do whatever you want.

You can be a farmer, an explorer, a hunter, a builder even, or be the warrior and fight the dragon. There's just a lot of things you can do in this game. And I think that's why the game got really popular.

I think @airfightermax has the right idea, there's no single goal you have in Minecraft. Servers and custom maps exist for almost anything you could think of, and the game itself appeals to children as much as it does adults. Because of this, there's a lot of versatility in terms of what you can do and how you can enjoy yourself.

I still don't get it. Minecraft is a very UGLY game, everything is pixeled, everything looks square shaped and even so, it's a complete success. Everyone is used to graphics improvement in games every year as techonology advances and hardware is always evolving increasing performance and stunnig graphics. I have not played it yet, but i'm getting kinda curious. I guess it is a good game in spite of the graphihcs.

Definitely the CREATIVITY that i draws out from the user. In a sense you can do anything in the game, you can create and build anything in your world. I did built super tall structures in my world and super long stretch of tracks for my mine cart. There is no limit to your imagination sometimes I got lost exploring maps and i just create another world better than the last. You somehow evolve with the game play with your creativity . Building possibilities are endless that made it so attractive to users. The word FUN is definitely in the game. I prefer playing it with other people, i enjoy it better.

I think it's become so popular because of how easy and amusing it is when playing. It's just one of those games anyone can play although most people think it's just a kids game. It has endless possibilities and lots of servers that have multiple gamemodes, and it has mods constantly being created in the community.

I think the reason why Minecraft has become so popular is because it captures both adults and kids mind. Like everyone can play this game, you just need to build your own house, it doesn't really matter if it's ugly or not as long as you are the builder or the owner.
