I actually tend to prefer wired controllers myself for those systems that have them, mostly because I find a direct connection easier to work with over having to sync and re-sync things constantly - not to mention batteries and charges do run out at some point. A lot of systems have you plug your controllers into the console as an option to charge them nowadays, though, so it's not usually a big deal in most cases.
I will admit that if I'm doing a lot of local multiplayer (which is a rare occurrence for me as I live alone), wireless is nice to have. But most of the time, it's just me, myself and I so passing around controllers or getting into the way of other people or objects is not really a huge concern.
