I don't know if they can really boost your intelligence but you have many games where you have to use your brain to reach the end of the game. I think the most perfect examples are different memory based games or puzzles where you have to use some analytical and deductive capabilities. So anything that involves logical thinking and so on.

One of the best known and old ''games'' is probably chess. You need a lot of brain power to play it at a higher level and I believe that it can potentially increase your thinking/logical capabilities. Also, different card games aren't bad.

If you have a smartphone our tablet, you could go to the app store and search for the term "Brain Games". You'll be amazed at the number of games available. Most of these games are IQ test games with time limits. They actually are very challenging and fun to play.

Aside from IQ games, you would also find a lot of math games that test and improve your mental calculation. Even basic additions and subtractions become fun with these games.

There are also some English grammar and vocabulary games which could boost your knowledge in English. So there you have it. Games that could improve your intellect.

Well besides of the already mentioned chess, I think the games that help the most are point&click games (some of them, stuff like Monkey Island where everything is pretty absurd aren't a good choice) or game focused around puzzles that make you think differently.
For exampe Antichamber is a weird puzzle game where you have to think a lot in different ways to proceed: a pretty unique game, and a good one.
A more "traditional" puzzle game that forces you to think a lot would be The Talos Principle, a game with a lot of different puzzles - and just that, puzzles after puzzles.
I think the Witness might be good too, but I haven't played it so I'm not 100% sure.

I guess you refer to logical games or board games. Thre you can play scrabble or chess to boot your memory and your brain. It depends on everyone what it wants to play, there are a lot of games from where to chose from.

I think all games can boost intelligence. One way or another they teach us something. Whether is improving your reflexes or teaching you a second language like it happened to me all games can contribute to making you smarter. It's important to note however that everything is healthy in moderation and gaming cannot replace other important activities like studying.

Well upon reading the title the first game that came to my mind is Chess. It is one of the most intellectual game and it improves your analytical and critical thinking boosting your intelligence. Other than Chess, puzzle games, IQ games, mystery games. Personally, I think mystery game is a complete package of puzzles and stuff which we need to solve to unlock levels, solve a crime thereby improving our memory. There are a plenty of games available in the play store to keep us busy as well as improving our intelligence.

All games have their pros and cons. Most of them boost quick decision-making and motor skills. But depending on the game you play, it could enhance your strategic-thinking. your ability to plan and execute and many other assets that depend on what the game is about. Personally, I've been playing a lot of virtual chess lately, and it has helped me a lot during my daily chores, also I feel like my memory is stronger than ever. So kudos for chess :) It all depends on what you play, the important part is that you keep playing!

You can try startegy games like chess. Card games can go a long way in brain development and thinking. Puzzle games also can help.

I played Brain Age for Nintendo DS for a while because it was supposed to help "train" your brain. But I don't know if there's any scientific basis for it. I feel like any game that uses your brain can help, whether it's puzzles or logic or problem solving. But I kind of don't think that there would be enough positive effect to be worth it, in and of itself.

I think memory games, puzzle, quizzes and some board games can help improve your critical thinking skills. Strategy games such as Civilization and Age of Empires can also help to boost one's memory.

I'll say games like "Who wants to be a millionare" can really make you learn things. There was a time I was really obsessed with this sort of games but eventually it gets really tiring and you know every question because they don't update them. I'll also say scrabble is one of those that can really make you think because you need to know a lot of words and research in your mind to make it work...

In my personal expression, I don't believe any game can boost your intelligence. However, games for memory and quick response can sort of "train" your mind to a degree. Though I can't quite give accuracy to apps like brain games available to download on smartphones. Nevertheless, they're fun daily activities that can't hurt. So why not give them a shot!

What I will say is that like yourself, I also enjoy intellectually induced games. To be clear, I consider a board game like chess a prime example. It works with the brain and teaches you strategy, along with thinking a step ahead of your opponent. I feel games like that mentally stimulate me.

Of course, I think that any games which have difficult puzzles can force a gamer to use critical thinking skills more than those just plain "shoot-em'-up" games. I think that even something like Tetris can boost one's intelligence. Also, those civilization games which require strategy and long term goals with thought processes and situations which require one to plan ahead can be quite stimulating as well.

Games have already been proven to help improve players intelligence, focus etc. There are definitely games out there that can boost intelligence especially those brain trainer games that used to be on the Nintendo DS. A lot of these first person shooter games can improve your critical thinking skills and help people to think more intelligently. I mean, I am addicted to Rainbow Six Siege right now and the amount of planning and thinking that you need to do is crazy. If you try to just play casually, you will not do well and end up dying straight away. You need to try and think what your enemy will be doing, try to think of good strategies and be able to handle pressure which can help you prepare for real life jobs as well.

So many games take critical thinking, it's not too hard to find them. The Professor Layton series comes to mind, it's literally just brainteaser after brainteaser.

Oh, I had totally forgotten about Professor Layton! I've only ever played one game from the series, and I remember it was a lot of fun. Some of the puzzles were SO hard though, I had to look up answers online :emoji_sweat_smile:

There was actually a formal study just done that demonstrate these games don't really boost your intelligence more than they help you maintain what you already have. Having said that, I think problem solving skills can be exercised to some minimal extent with games like sudoku. The problem though is that games tend to only provide a limited number of types of challenge and rarely throw anything genuinely new at you. You only then really get good at solving that specific type of puzzle, which may or may not have any real world applications.

I learned a lot of things with online games and quizzes like World Countries or Who wants to be a millionaire. I haven't played them in a long time now. I believe strategy games are also great for developing logical skills. I haven't played any "Brain games" but a friend of mine regularly plays mobile phone games that are quizzes or logical games about electronics.
